A Grey Day in London - Perfect For Moody Black & White Photos

Bracing the cold and rain, I went out with my Ricoh GR IIIx to capture textures, motion, and mood of a winter day in London.

It was one of those rainy, grey and cold winter days in London. I was debating with myself if I should bother going out taking photos or just having a relaxed day on my sofa. But since it was a busy week and I hadn't had a lot of time for photography, I felt the urge to go out and create despite the weather.

I set myself a little challenge - a theme to follow and stay motivated throughout the day. I wanted to focus on textures, motion and mood.

To keep it simple, I've only taken my super compact Ricoh GR IIIx and my Pentax 17 with me. I loaded the Pentax with Kentmere 400 and set my Ricoh GR IIIx to black and white. With that kit, I took the train to Shoreditch and started looking out for textures and patterns. All the following pictures were taken with the Ricoh. Out of camera JPGs slightly edited in Lightroom. No film pictures in this post. Still need to get the roll finished, developed and scanned.
